How does RAMPS™ Work?

Total muscle mass is always in flux with new muscle being built while at the same time parts of the muscle breaks down. Total muscle mass is the sum of muscle protein synthesis (MPS) and breakdown (MPB), and if synthesis is greater than breakdown, we are gaining muscle mass. The branched chain amino acid (BCAA) leucine is a key driver in the nutritional stimulation muscle protein synthesis. In order to optimally stimulate MPS, leucine levels have to reach a certain threshold amount. ING2 explored the kinetics of leucine and various leucine peptides and found that the dileucine peptide (L-leucyl-L-leucine) was much faster and more efficiently absorbed than standard leucine. This led to the discovery that faster absorption of leucine into the muscle provides greater activation of MPS. The fact that dileucine is at least in part absorbed intact might further augment its superior muscle building effects. RAMPS™ is a patented dileucine peptide that has been shown to be significantly more effective than leucine in inceasing MPS.
